Acts of Mercy Ministry

Dear brothers and sisters,

Please see attached file for an update of our Acts of Mercy volunteer-sign ups for the different charities we are involved in. This will give you an idea which dates are FULL, and which ones are still open. This will be posted in our website as well, under the Acts of Mercy link.

Please feel free to invite your friends, coworkers, other guests to our activities. It's a great way to introduce our community to them.

Here's a brief description of each charity:

ST. ALBAN'S SHOWER PROGRAM

Located at St. Alban's Anglican Church in Richmond Offers free shower to anyone who wants one, along with hot breakfast, and bagged lunch; may partake of donated goods. Volunteers: 6 max. per shift (children 10 up are allowed, with parent) Job: Cook breakfast, clean-up, talk to guests, assist in giving out soap/shampoo/etc. to guests, arrange donation table, etc. Volunteer time: 7:30am to 10:30am c/o Ems Worden (This email address is being protected from spambots. QUEST FOOD EXCHANGE

Located at 2020 Dundas St. Vancouver Their motto is: "reduce hunger with dignity, build community, foster sustainability"; stepping stone for their clients from food bank reliance to self-sufficiency Volunteers: 15 max per shift (children 10 up are allowed, with parent) Job: Re-pack goods, stock up shelves, etc. Volunteer time: 10:00 am to 2:00 pm c/o Gladys Tecson (This email address is being protected from spambots. COVENANT HOUSE

Located at 575 Drake St. Vancouver Their motto is: "opening doors for the homeless youth"; serves the at-risk youth roaming the streets of Vancouver by providing shelter, food, clothing, counselling, teaching life skills, etc. Volunteers: 25 max per shift (children 10 up are allowed, with parent) Job: Organize and sort donated clothes, toiletries, household items Volunteer time: 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm c/o Ginger Umali (This email address is being protected from spambots. THE DOOR IS OPEN

Located at 255 Dunlevy St. Vancouver A Catholic charity, run by nuns, welcoming the less fortunate people of downtown eastside, many of whom are suffering from poverty, drug & alcohol addictions, physical & mental disabilities, and other impairments. Volunteers: 30++ Job: Preparations/Shopping, Gift Bags packing, actual cooking and serving at the venue Volunteer time on date itself: 8:30 am to 1:30 pm Prep/Shopping volunteers, and Gift Bag packers - before the event c/o Karen Valencia (This email address is being protected from spambots.
